Milestones

All Tests Pass!

In July, 2006 AVIRTEK successfully demonstrated the ability of its Autonomic Network Defense (AND) system to successfully detect all types of network attacks, known and unknown with 99% accurate detection rate, and less than 1% false alarm during the final demonstration of the AND prototype held at AVIRTEK headquarters in Tucson, AZ. AND is part of AMIDS.

AVIRTEK Given Contract with the Air Force!

In October, 2005 AVIRTEK was awarded a contract with the Air Force Information Warfare Battlelab to develop and demonstrate its technology to detect and protect network attacks in real time.

SBIR/STTR Awards

SBIR 09.2 Phase II Award!

On January 4, 2011 AVIRTEK was awarded a contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory ($749,786 over 24 months) for its Phase II Proposal entitled “Autonomic Software Protection System (ASPS)”.

In phase II of this SBIR, AVIRTEK will develop an Autonomic Software Protection System (ASPS), to enable pro-active learning and representation of system state’s knowledge in order to defend against attacks or failures. The ASPS will be able to determine any hostile behavior, characterize it, and then perform protection and countermeasure actions. Furthermore, through the use of autonomous agents, ASPS can destroy the ability of the attacker in launching attacks against the protected system.

STTR 08.B Phase II Award!

On December 1, 2010 AVIRTEK was awarded a contract with the Air Force ($749,998 over 24 months) for its Phase II Proposal entitled “Cyber-Battle Management System (CBMS)”.

In this Phase II STTR, AVIRTEK will develop and demonstrate a Cyber-Battle Management System (CBMS) that is based on autonomic computing. The proposed CBMS will utilize AVIRTEK autonomic agents, along with statistical and data mining techniques, anomaly behavior analysis, and intelligent decision fusion to autonomically manage configuration and security of battle space resources and services. The CBMS features that will be supported by the prototype to be developed and demonstrated at the end of Phase II are: Threat Management, Automated/Semi-automated/Manual Management Actions and Dashboard and Visualization.

SBIR 09.2 Phase I Award!

On November 6, 2009 AVIRTEK was awarded a contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory ($99,684 over 6 months) for its proposed project entitled “Autonomic Software Protection System (ASPS)”.

The Autonomic Software Protection System (ASPS) will be able to determine any hostile behavior, characterize it, and then perform protection and countermeasure actions. Furthermore, through the use of autonomous agents, ASPS can destroy the ability of the attacker in launching attacks against the protected system.

STTR 08.B Phase I Award!

On June 15, 2009 AVIRTEK, in collaboration with The University of Arizona, was awarded a contract with the Air Force Office of Scientific Research ($99,912 over 9 months) for its proposed project entitled “Cyber-Battle Management System (CBMS)”.

In this Phase I project, AVIRTEK research team investigated the use of autonomic management solutions to proactively and automatically manage the complex and dynamic nature of cyber-infrastructures and their services. We have evaluated different techniques to use AVIRTEK building blocks, and capabilities for automatic and efficient monitoring of cyber-infrastructure behavior, identifying anomalous behaviors due to malicious attacks, misconfigurations, HW/SW failures, and/or performance degradations due to workloads and network traffic changes.
